Serving, former state governors, and other guests thronged the Hilltop presidential residence of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday to commiserate with him over the death of his younger sister, Adunni Eweje. She died on May 19 at the age of 76.
Shortly after her remains were buried on Saturday at the Baptist Church cemetery, Quarry Road, Abeokuta, early callers were the governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi, his predecessor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, and former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Other personalities who went to condole with the former president also included the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin, and the newly elected president of African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina.
Florence Ita-Giwa, Senator Andy Uba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Bode Mustapha, and Iyalode of Yorubaland, Mrs. Alaba Lawson, among others were also at Obasanjo’s residence to sympathise with him.
The Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, had in a message at the church service, held at the Owu Baptist Church, Totoro, Abeokuta, described the late Eweje as a pillar of support to the former president, and himself.Amosun said, “Baba and all of us are surely going to miss her. May her soul rest in peace.”
