CHAIRMAN of Delta State Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, Mrs Orode Imevbore, has said that over N13 million had been deducted from the teaching and non-teaching staff of the board on account of absenteeism to instil discipline in the workers.
Imevbore in a chat with newsmen said the N13 million had been paid into the state government coffers, adding that the board will reward hardworking teachers and “sanction the bad eggs among them.”
She said the board under her headship has set up a Compliance Task Force on June 19, 2014 with the mandate to monitor absenteeism and misbehaviour of some teachers in order to raise the standard of teaching and learning in secondary schools across the state.
Imevbore said a proper documented process for the promotion of staff especially senior staff had been put in place with a well articulated policy document that defines the various rules and guidelines to be followed and considered in the promotion and appointment of personnel in the PPEB.
On Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration, she said the former governor did well in all spheres, adding that he (Uduaghan) left behind a legacy of massive infrastructural development across the state.
