Boko Haram: Chad to arrest beggars, foreigners following suicide attacks

The Chadian government will round up beggars and some foreigners in the country following twin suicide bombings which killed 33 people in the country, an official has said.

According to Prime Minister, Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet the move is part of a security clamp-down following the attacks which have been blamed on Boko Haram.

According to Reuters, Deubet said on Friday, June 19, 2015, that the detained beggars and foreigners would be held in a center in Baga Sola, a town near Lake Chad, close to the Nigerian border.

He also said that boating and fishing would be banned on parts of the River Chari that flows into the Lake Chad.

Boko Haram militants have launched deadly attacks on Chad due to its proximity to Nigeria and its participation in a joint force against the sect.

Chad also claimed to have bombed Boko Haram camps in Nigeria in retaliation for the suicide attacks which occurred on Monday, June 15, but this report has been denied by the Nigerian Army
