Ben Murray Bruce, a Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district, said on Wednesday that youth between the ages of 20 to 40 should be appointed ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Bruce stated this in a series of tweets on his twitter handle, @benmurraybruce while discussing youth empowerment.
“If we want geometric growth, let’s have youthful ministers in their 20s, 30s and 40s, into government generate ideas and innovation, #commonsense,” the senator said.
Mr. Bruce, who before his election as Senator, was the chairman of silver bird television, said it’s time for Nigerians to wake from its slumber and accomplish its dreams.
“Nigeria has had big dreams for ages. It’s time we wake up and accomplish those big dreams. It starts by empowering our youth #commonsense”
“Youths need the right environment. There are many Chinedu Echerous among our youth who can turn ideas into billion dollar apps #commonsense,” Mr Bruce tweeted in a reference to a Nigerian who built a top app bought recently by Apple.
He said Nigeria has enough resources to empower corps members to start off businesses after the national service.
“I will keep saying it, if we cut waste in government; Nigeria has enough to give NYSC Corpers grants to start business #commonsense.
“Imagine the economic impact if we train NYSC Corpers on entrepreneurship then give them 500k bank guarantee to start a biz #commonsense,” he said.
He suggested that free education should be granted up to the university level.
