Nigeria - A 24-year old saw miller has been remanded in prison for beating the living daylights out of an Akure chief magistrate.
The accused was said to have rained blows on Mrs. Yetunde Ajanaku with his fists and shoe all over her body, injuring her in the process.
He was said to have committed the offence at about 6:30pm, at Odi-Olowo street, Akure, on June 16,2015.
However when arraigned before an Akure chief magistrate’s court sitting at Oke Eda, in Akure at the weekend, he pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of assault.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr. Azeez Agbaje , opposed the prosecution’s application, urging the court to grant his client bail as that the offence was a baliable one.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Sunday Adedapo ordered the remand of the accused person in Olokuta prison till June, 23,2015 for ruling.
