The police on Thursday arraigned a hairdresser, Rose Godwin, before an Apapa Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos for obtaining the sum of N5000 from a pastor she alleged impregnated her spiritually.
According to the prosecutor, Cpl John Iberedem, the accused is standing trial on a two count change of breach of peace and obtaining by false pretences.
Iberedem told the court that the 42-year-old committed the offences on April 16, at Eseagu Street, Ajegunle, Apapa Lagos.
The prosecutor noted that the accused who resides at No.22, Akerele Street in the Ajegunle area of Lagos obtained the sum of N5000 for antenatal from the pastor, under false pretences.
Iberedem said: “The complainant, Pius Ophie, a pastor, said he met the accused for the first time the day she came for counselling in church.
“The pastor told the police that the accused complained that she was always having dreams of a man having s*xual int*rcourse with her every night.
“The pastor arranged to carry out deliverance for the accused and later told her to come with her relatives.
“But to Ophie’s surprise, the accused came some weeks after the deliverance session and told him that she had a dream about him sleeping with her.
“Godwin claimed the complainant impregnated her spiritually and the accused then started to demand for money to register for antenatal care.
“The accused obtained the sum of N5000 for antenatal care from the complainant, on the pretext that she will bear a spiritual baby.’’
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
