Two suspected kidnappers, leader’s wife arrested in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and wife of the kingpin that allegedly abducted 11 victims, who were freed in the early hours of Saturday.
                                  
Ekiti State Governor said one Olumide, 31, and one Folorunsho, both from Esure Ekiti were arrested between Ikere Ekiti and Iju Ekiti while trying to escape.

According to a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, the wife of Austin, the leader of the gang, who was supplying food and other items to them was also arrested.

“A manhunt has been launched for the remaining five to six of the kidnappers, who are believed to hail from Benin and its environs in Edo State,” the statement said.

 Fayose, who noted that the three people, who accommodated them were also arrested said his government was planning to enact a law that would empower the police to arrest landlords of criminals in the state.

He said the proposed law would also ensure prosecution and demolition of such building accommodating criminals.

He reiterated his government desire to pay N2m reward for anyone with useful information on how to arrest the kidnappers.

The governor advised people, living in areas considered as hideouts for criminals, to report suspected persons to the Police.
