The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 72 senior police officers.
The officers were promoted at the 12th plenary meeting of the commission held in Abuja on Wednesday, and presided over by its Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, a retired Inspector-General of Police.
A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, on Thursday, explained that the commission also promoted 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the next rank of Commissioner of Police after they passed the promotion interview.
Similarly, 20 Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of DCP while two Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to the rank of ACP.
Another three CSPs were appointed acting ACP, while one Superintendent of Police was elevated to CSP.
“The Commission also approved the promotion of 30 DSPs to SPs, one ASP to the next rank of DSP. One Inspector was appointed acting ASP; The promotions take immediate effect,” the statement added.
