EKITI : 200 Mobile Policemen, Scores of DSS Operatives Guide House of Assembly, Troublesome Drivers' Unions Leaders To be Declared Wanted

It is a new song on Democracy Day. After midnight downpour, the aura of fear disappeared and replaced with the fresh breath of fresh air of freedom. Democracy that has been manacled in the last seven months in Ekiti has let itself loose from Governor Ayodele Fayose's chains. In the Government House, gloom is the word.

That is the new reality in Ekiti as federal operatives once commanded by Fayose change camps to pitch tent with the new APC-led Federal power.

In the Ekiti State House of Assembly once seized by Fayose's thugs of occupation, some 200 fierce-looking mobile policemen mixed with scores of DSS operatives take charge. A fly will not survive any risk of interfering with the security operation in the entire surrounding of the complex from the Bank Road end of the area.

At Ilawe road/NTA junction leading to the House of Assembly, a massive deployment of DSS operatives armed to the teeth mount road block.

Also at the APC secretariat and Kayode Fayemi Campaign office, about 200 policemen provide security for APC members to have a violence-free celebration of the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The operation at the APC offices is being commanded by an Assistant Commissioner of police.

Meanwhile, other detachment of security forces are expected in Ekiti State this afternoon to provide security in all major towns of Ekiti State.

This is coming as security sources confirmed that a list of drivers unions leaders who reportedly held a meeting with Fayose in the last few days to foment trouble is being compiled for arrest.
According to sources at Ekiti Police Command, the measure to arrest the union leaders is coming against the background of alleged plan to use them for massive violence.

"We learnt that their vehicles will be used in moving thugs that are armed with acid, guns, charms and other dangerous weapons.

"Nigeria is no more a lawless country. We have one constitution in this country and everybody must obey that law. Whoever breaks that law will have himself to blame.

We are fully prepared for this operation and whoever is apprehended will face the full wrath of the law. Unfortunately, their cases may not be heard in Ado-Ekiti here because investigations on their activities in the last few weeks will be conducted in Abuja," a top officer at the police headquarters confided.
