Being short may seem a curse and may have a great impact on your self-esteem. Tall people tend to look down on the shorter folks and this could lead to inferiority complex. There is really nothing you can do about it especially when you have passed a certain age because your bones would have stopped growing by then. However, with a few tricks and tips, it is possible to add a few inches or at least appear taller.
1. Eat a Balanced Diet
A well balanced diet and proper diet and play a vital role in improving your height. Your body needs all the vitamins and minerals it can get for proper growth and development. A balanced diet rich in calcium, phosphorus, iodine and magnesium is extremely important for proper growth. In order to obtain the essential food nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and calcium required for healthy growth and development, you should incorporate the following in your daily diet.
- Egg yolk
- Animal products such as beef, liver, chicken etc
- Green leafy vegetables
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Nuts such as almonds, peanuts, cashew nuts etc

- Milk and dairy product.
Calcium is very important for the growth and maintenance of strong bones and cartilages and its importance can never be over emphasized. Therefore it is advisable to meet the recommended dietary allowance of calcium by consuming milk and other dairy products daily.
2. Stretching and Exercise:
This may sound funny but it works. Growth is being stimulated when you indulge in exercises that stretches the body. Apart from exercise, sports activities like cycling and swimming can also help in increasing height. Below are some exercises that might be helpful in gaining some height after the age of 25 years.
Yoga:
Apart from regular exercising, practicing yoga also helps in maintaining the correct posture and thus contributes not only to height gain, but to the overall development of your body. The different yoga positions make your body supple, besides stimulating the growth hormones.
3. Exposure to Sunlight:
It is essential to expose your body to sunlight which is one of the most important sources of vitamin D. Vitamin D facilitates bone growth. Exposure to sunlight allows your body to get the required dose of Vitamin D.
4. Proper Sleep:
Do you get enough sleep? Do you sleep with the right posture? Adequate sleep is paramount because the growth hormone that is responsible for thickening and lengthening of your bones works better during deep sleep. It is also important to sleep in a straight position and not bent or curled up.
