The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, yesterday predicted a landslide victory for President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Ogun people will massively vote for him and other National Assembly members representing the PDP.
Isiaka spoke while fielding questions from journalists at a PDP sensitisation rally in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
However, he disputed some opinion polls that had predicted victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Gen Muhammadu Buhari in Ogun state, saying such polls did not reflect the reality on the ground but were manipulated for a predetermined purpose.
He said many voters in the state did not see any benefit in Buhari’s presidency and they are determined to vote against it.
He said: “Even as some credible polls gave victory to President Jonathan, the PDP has not relented in its efforts to ensure that Mr. President wins the election convincingly.
“We laughed at the polls that said Buhari will win in Ogun state as the wishful thinking of the sponsors of the polls. But unknown to them, Ogun people are already looking beyond the APC in the state because the party has disappointed them with unfulfilled promises and massive corruption going on in the state.”
He said Ogun people are wiser than to fall for the antics of the APC, noting that the propaganda and sentiments that won them votes in 2011 are no longer tenable.
On February 20 President Jonathan met with some traditional rulers in Ogun state behind closed doors
