The Buhari Support Organisation has commended the Nigerian military for its recent successes in the fight against Boko Haram militants, but urged the military high command to flush out sympathisers of the sect from Aso Rock.
This was contained in a statement by the Director of Media and Information Technology of the BSO, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, in Abuja, on Sunday.
It said over the last few days, the Nigerian Army had distinguished itself in the fight against the terrorist insurgents, who had been wreaking havoc on the North-East, killing innocent citizens and soldiers.
It joined millions of Nigerians to say it was extremely proud of these successes, particularly the reclaiming of parts of the nation, which hitherto had been taken over by Boko Haram.
This, it said, showed that the spirit of the Nigerian soldier was alive and strong and remained dedicated to the service of the nation.
The statement partly read, “It also means that when adequately empowered and equipped, the Army can reclaim its reputation as the formidable fighting machine, which used to be the “best-trained and best equipped of all sub-Saharan armed forces.
“This is the Nigerian Army that we know and deserve. This is the Army that Buhari/Osinbajo Presidency is dedicated to rebuild into becoming among the best global Armies .We also commend our collaborating forces from neighbouring countries like Chad , Niger and Cameroon.
“As we wait, along with other Nigerians and the rest of the world for a conclusive end of the reign of terror, we must take this opportunity to make this clarion call to the Nigerian Army. President Jonathan admitted as far back as January 2012 that Boko Haram was part of his government and seemed helpless towards doing anything about it.
“We urge the Nigerian Army to prepare to fight these Boko Haram members within the Jonathan government and convincingly route them out as well. “
