Jonathan won’t force people to actualise his aim -Arogbofa

President Goodluck Jonathan
The Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Brig.-Gen. Jones Arogbofa (retd.), said Jonathan is not a ruler who uses instrument of coercion and legal abuses to achieve any motive.
Arogbofa made the assertion in a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday.
He was reacting to a document which surfaced on the social media recently comprising list of some prominent Nigerians that were purportedly forwarded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by his office for investigation.
In disowning the document, Arogbofa said Jonathan had never given such directive, hence the document could not have emanated from his office.
He added that the letter head of the document is not that of his office while the signature in the publication is not also his signature.
He said, “Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is a leader and not a ruler who uses instrument of coercion and legal abuses to achieve or actualise any motive.
“He would rather dialogue and subject issues to superior argument and critical debate before taking an action.
“And if he must take action after dialogue, he will ensure that such is within the constitutional limit, strict adherence to the rule of law and due process of law.”
He said the publication was a mischievous and calculated attempt to mar the good image of his office and should be disregarded.
The document Arogbofa referred to had listed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal; Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State; Governor Adams Oshiomohle of Edo State; Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso; Governor Aliyu Wamako of Sokoto State; Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu among others as people Jonathan wanted investigated by the EFCC.
The letter dated February 19, 2015 had claimed that the President wanted the personal and official finances of the 20 listed persons “clandestinely” investigated and the report made available to him by March 16.
