The Chairman of Delta State Civil Service, Dr Emmanuel Tesola, on Tuesday said 126,000 persons applied for employment in the 2014 recruitment exercise into the state civil service.
Tesola disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit on the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Peter Onwusanya in Asaba.
He said out of the figure, 980 persons would be employed, adding that the recruitment exercise would be based on merit and geographical spread.
The chairman said physically challenged persons would be considered. He commended the state house of assembly for supporting the state civil service commission.
He, therefore, solicited for the continuous support of the state House of Assembly in making laws that could help in strengthening the state civil service.
The chairman also felicitated with Onwusanya on his appointment as the speaker of the state House of Assembly.
Responding, the speaker thanked the chairman of the civil service commission for felicitating with him and assured him that the state House of Assembly would do its best in ensuring that the commission improved on its services.
