PDP vows to reclaim Kwara

Senator Simeon Ajibola representing Kwara South Senatorial District has said the PDP will reclaim the state from the APC.

Ajibola said this on Sunday while addressing party supporters at  Owu-Isin, Isin Local Government Area of the state,  during a rally.

He urged the people of the district not to lose hope because of those that defected from the party to APC, adding that "PDP would laugh last".

The lawmaker, who said  the case was already in court, vowed that the party’s leadership  would exhaust all legal options.

Ajibola said the people of the state voted for PDP councillors, 16 local government chairmen, 26 House of Assembly members, six House of Representatives  members, three senators and one governor.

The senator told the gathering that the law was very clear on defection, arguing that any elected office holder who defected  would automatically lose the position.

In his own address, a former Deputy Governor to former Gov. Bukola Saraki, Chief Joel Ogundeji, appealed to the people of the district to continue to support PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said Saraki never consulted him before he defected to APC, adding that he did not know what transpired that led  him  out of the party.

"I cannot follow Bukola to APC because PDP has not offended me.  I am solidly in PDP and I will work for its success at the polls," Ogundeji said.

The former deputy governor advised the youths in PDP not to engage in violence  but should remain focused  on how to win back the state.

A youth leader, Mr Michael Awolusi, who addressed the gathering,  appealed to the party leaders not to allow factions within the party.

Awolusi pledged that youths  in the party would continue to work for  its progress ahead  of the  2015 general elections.
