Kwara CP warns against political rallies at airport
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisebor, on Tuesday warned political parties in the state against any political rallies within the premises of the Ilorin International Airport.
He reminded them that there is a prohibition against such gatherings within airport premises.
He spoke in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, while addressing political parties in the state.
The CP also urged political parties in the state not to hold their political rallies on the same day, at the same time in the state.
He stated that he will not grant permit for such.
He said the directive became necessary to avoid violence and acts of thuggery which could jeorpardise the peace and harmony in the state.
According to him, the police would provide adequate security for all political parties in the state, saying he would be fair and just to all the parties.
The CP assured that he would provide level playing ground for all stakeholders.
He also warned against removing party bill boards and posters.
He reminded political parties that political campaigns would commence from November 16 according to Nigeria’s Constitution and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission
