HTC One owners in the UK have had to wait for a long time to receive the update. HTC One owners in other countries in Europe have had their hands on the latest version of Android since earlier this year.
In a statement, the Taiwanese smartphone maker said that it was “temporarily suspending” the rollout of Android KitKat to UK HTC One handsets.
It cited problems being suffered by customers, but did not elaborate. It has been suggested that the update a significant shortening of the phone’s battery life.
In a statement, the company said: "We are aware that a limited number of HTC users are experiencing difficulties with the KitKat update.
“As a result, all FOTA updates have been temporarily suspended. HTC is committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience and we are working hard to resolve the issue quickly.”
HTC is widely expected to unveil the HTC One 2’s launch date at an event in New York later this month.
The ‘all new HTC One’ was leaked in a video yesterday.
HTC is likely to want the issues with HTC One’s KitKat deployment sorted before it unveiled the successor to the smartphone.
