He made this known while speaking at an interactive section with Journalists at the NIS headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
While explaining that the recruitment exercise was being carried out by the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prison Services Board, the Comptroller-General said the delay was to ensure that all qualified candidates were shortlisted.
The Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG), Human Resource Manager, Malgwi Henry Yasika told Daily Trust that the recruitment process was at its advanced stage.
“The recruitment will take place between this month and next month,” he noted.
DCG Yasika who said all the shortlisted candidates will travel to their respective states of origin for the aptitude test, added that training will commence immediately after recruitment.
It would be recalled that the service, September last year advertised vacancy for recruitment to enable it add to its manpower in the fight against insurgency and illegal immigrants.
