Ekiti Three Days Governor, Friday Aderemi Is Dead

Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Chief Friday Aderemi is dead.

Aderemi, who was acting governor of Ekiti State for three days (October 16 to 18,2006) died today.

He died at the State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti at about 11am today after a brief illness.

He was aged 74.

Aderemi became the acting governor of Ekiti State when the then governor, Ayodele Fayose and his deputy, Mrs Abiodun Olujimi were impeached.

His tenure was however shortlived as a state of emergency was declared three after he assumed office. He was replaced by General Adetunji Olurin, who was appointed Sole-Administrator by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was a member of the old Ondo State House of Assembly in 1983.

Chief Aderemi was appointed as a part time Chairman, Ekiti State Education Trust Fund by the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, a position he held until his death.
