Police raided a wedding ceremony in Thamaga and seized six cattle suspected to be stolen that were about to be presented as the bride prize.
Four men, Ketsaabame Tekanyo, 50, Moemedi Oakantse Gaolaolwe, 34, Kedigoletse Boitshwaro, 26, and Boitshepho Ramatokwane, 19, have been arrested in connection with the stolen cattle.
The Botswana Police Service’s (BPS) public relations officer, Dipheko Motube, stated that the stolen cattle were intercepted as the suspects attempted to register and trick the system into clearing the animals of any controversy.
“They were intercepted in a kraal at Morepo ward in Thamaga at the bride’s place where the first leg of the wedding was held over the past weekend. The police have in the process confiscated a Honda Fit vehicle alleged to have been offered by the wedding crew to the suspects in a rumoured swap deal for the cattle initiated by the suspects,” Motube said.
