
The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives began a day protest nationwide to call on the attention of the Ministry Of Health on the state of nurses at the Federal Health Institutions. According to the chairman of the union Vongdip Timven their call was based on the inability of government agencies to implement series of welfare measures such as redesignation of nurses, promotion of nurses, non payment of promotion arrears and failure if the Chief medical director to pay the teaching allowances to it's members
The union decry the State Of Nigerian public health institutions calling them death traps due to the inability of the government in refurbishing the tools they use. According to the nurses if their plight is not addressed they may take drastic measures.
