The police anti-robbery operatives in Kano have shot dead a suspected armed robber and arrested one after a shoot out. DSP Magaji Majiya, the spokesman of Kano State Police Command, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday. Majiya said that the the incident happened on Sunday, at about 4:30 p.m. at Yandutse village in Bichi Local Government Area (LGA)....
Majiya said a good Samaritan alerted policemen who responded promptly, blocked all exits from the village and intercepted the robbers. He said that one of the suspects, who resides in Kurna quarters, Kano, was gunned down while another was arrested with a locally made pistol.
“The items abandoned by other fleeing suspects include N510, 275 cash, one decoder receiver, one wrist watch and some charms,’’ the spokesman said.
Majiya said that the corpse of the suspected robber had been deposited at the morgue.
“Further investigation at the residence of the ring leader, who invited them for the operation, led to the recovery of five locally made pistols and 10 live cartridges,” he stated.
The spokesman said that the command had arrested another suspect at Falali village, Sumaila LGA, who allegedly specialised in stealing motorcycles.
“He has since confessed to the theft of over 98 motorcycles and out of which six were recovered,” Majiya said. (NAN)
