Kent_999’s Twitter account said the woman was pregnant and had been helped to safety after “accidentally reversing” off the concrete just before 7pm on Friday night.

They tweeted: “A pregnant woman’s been rescued after accidentally reversing off the quayside into the harbour onto a floating pontoon.”

Police and paramedics raced to the scene at Military Road, said Kent Online.

Firefighters had to use a winch to keep the car steady as crew climbed down to free the woman who was inside the vehicle. Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they would use a crane to lift the vehicle back on to the jetty. She did not suffer any injuries, the website reported.
