Butchers & miscreants stab taskforce officials over raids on their illegal abbattoirs

The illegal abattoirs that were supposed to be sealed were considered not to be in line with the statutory standards as contained in the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Laws.

Miscreants and operators of the illegal abattoirs attacked them in order attempt to prevent them from doing any work at Idi Araba. They were roughly stabbed with cutlasses & broken bottles while their official vehicles: two Toyota Hilux vans and a Black Maria were severely vandalized.

The Public Affairs Officer of the agency, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, who confirmed the incident, said that the raid was sequel to information received of some illegal abattoir and slabs in operation around Oshodi and Idi-Araba. The enforcement operations, that had successfully closed and sealed an illegal abattoir and slabs at Oshodi, however, met a stiff resistance from miscreants and operators at Idi-Araba.
