Don't let them get the better side of you

Have you ever felt this way before? Or you're probably feeling this way right now. It might just seem as if the whole world is conspiring against you, and your adversaries are just too strong for you. Is everyone pointing a finger at you? And it feels as though there is just no way you can vindicate yourself. This feeling can make
you suicidal, but common on it isn't worth it at all. You don't need everyone one liking you anyway, no matter how innocent you think you are. You can't decide who likes or dislikes you, but you can however decide your response to either their like or dislike.

When fingers are pointed at you, it only makes you a centre of attraction. If you are not guilty as charged, then no cause for alarm. When people point fingers at you without any reason, it only means that you probably have something that they don't and they can't stand it. We call such people in Naija, "enemies of progress". The best way to deal with such people is to act as if they don't exist, and soon they will shift their fingers to somewhere else.

7 Reasons why a nice guy can hurt your feelings

I have always considered myself to be a nice guy. *wink* Hey this isn't a complimentary statement, it's a fact. It feels nice to be nice. We all like nice people, don't we? But sometimes even nice people can hurt your feelings. In as much as I try to be nice, I still end up hurting the feelings of those I care so much about. I believe I'm not alone at this. My point is, being nice does't necessarily make you perfect. Sometimes we end up
stepping on toes we were trying to avoid. It just happen! Your nice boyfriend may still hurt your feelings, and here are seven reasons why I think he can:

He can say things without thinking
This can happen to anyone. I have found myself saying things that I later regret. Have you ever heard someone say this to you, "I'm sorry I din't mean to say that" The thing is, they might just be telling the truth. We've all at some point say things we wish we could take back, and if you haven't, you must be an introvert I suppose. So you see this can happen to anyone, even nice guys.

He don't know your triggers
You see, people can hurt us without even realising what they had done. You may sometimes have a mood swing, and what you are usually cool with might just be offensive at that moment. This could make a nice guy to innocently hurt you if he miss read your predominant emotion.

He may have other things on his mind
His mind might be occupied with  a lot of things and it may prevent him from giving you the attention you think you deserve. That wouldn't be the best time to want to discuss important issues with him, because you might end up getting hurt.

He may not always know what kind of feedback you want
This has happened to me on two or more occasions. A girl once asked for my opinion on a new dress she bought. Fact is, the design sucks, but I told her it was nice because I didn't want to hurt her feelings, but guess what? I did just that. On another occasion, she asked for my opinion about her hairstyle. Fact is, it was awful and I told her so, but that didn't really end well. What I'm I suppose to do?

You could be a victim of a transferred aggression
He may have had a really bad day at the office, or family house and you just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He needs to vent, and you avail yourself for that. I might call this a temporal mental snap, and it could also happen to a nice guy.

You took him for granted
He may be a nice guy, but he is no fool. If you keep taking advantage of his being too nice, you might one day receive the shock of your life. Don't ever assume that a nice guy can't hurt your feeling, because assumption may be fatal.

You let him hurt you
You know the saying is true that no one can hurt you without your consent. You are the gateway to your own happiness. If he hurts you it's because you let him to. Whether you want to be hurt or not is your own choice.

5 Common Things You Eat That Are Killing Your S*x Life

There are foods we eat which may taste pretty nice, but not so much below the belt.  Some men can't perform well on bed, and may be wondering why? It also affect women, it can lead to infertility. The thing is we have to watch what we eat, and in some case, it isn't only the things we eat, but the packaging itself. Infertility in women and quick ejaculation in men isn't a new phenomenon. Some people suffer from it but are not outspoken, just to keep their pride intact. Homes have been broken for that reason. Most times, the cause isn't generic in nature, it's as a result of what we eat. Now let me show you five common foods you eat that is killing your s*x life, after the cut...

Water

Did I hear someone say, "Are you for real?". Well water isn't the necessary evil here, but the plastic container that holds it. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical component that is found in most plastic food containers and cans that are associated with negative impact on the fertility of both men and women. A Slovenian study in the Journal of fertility and Sterility found statistically significant association between urinary BPA concentration in men and lower sperm count, concentration and vitality. A Harvard School of Public Health study found women with the highest BPA levels 27% less viable eggs.

Brussels sprouts
Now this may sound funny to some people, but it isn't. You can ruin a romantic moment with a malodorous fart. Now this beauties has a reputation of making you fart. Other veggies in this category include; cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage. They are known as cruciferous vegetables. Raffinose and sulphate are to be blame. Raffinose is a sugar found in cruciferous veggies that goes undigested until it reaches the large intestine where it's fermented by gas-producing bacteria. The smell, however, comes from sulphate, another compound found in cruciferous veggies that studies have found to be the major malodorous compound of human fart. My advice is, if you must make love and don't want to ruin the day with smelly farts, stay away from Brussels sprouts, at least for that day.

Can soup
Canned soup and meals are notoriously high in dietary sodium, which can lead to elevated blood pressure and diminishes blood flow to other regions of the body, including the genital. This can however be reversed by taking some dark chocolate, because the non-alkalised cocoa is rich in flavanols - compounds that promote the production of nitric oxide in the body, causing blood vessels to open wider.

Citrus-flavoured soda
Many sodas are manufactured with brominated vegetable oil (especially in the USA). One chemical in a class known as PBDEs, which are used as flame retardants in foams and plastics. A study in the Journal Environment Health Perspectives found women who were actively trying to get pregnant were half as likely to conceive if they had high level of PBDE in their blood. Coca-cola and Pepsi companies announced in May 2014 that they are working to remove the controversial chemical from products - which may include citrus-flavoured sodas like Mountain Dew, Fanta and Fresca - but only God knows when and if they will.

Edamane
A serving of edamame is a little more than a bowl of soy beans - 91% of which is generically engineered in the US, according to the Centre for Food Safety. A study Journal of Nutrition found high levels of soy in a woman's body can decrease s*x hormones and disrupt ovarian function. And a study out of Harvard School of Public Health found just a half serving of soy per day was enough to slash sperm count by 40%.

13 Most Effective Ways of Eliminating Bad Breath

Bad breath, also known as halitosis can actually ruin a near perfect romantic dinner for you. The lady or gentleman may probably lose concentration due to the incessant foul odour being projected by your mouth. This could be really embarrassing! If you are talking to someone who keeps recoiling his or her face, your breathe probably stinks.
A person with halitosis may not always noticed it, the phenomenon is because
the odour-detecting cells in his or her nose have eventually become acclimatised to the constant flow of bad odour from the mouth. But other people around can easily noticed and react t by walking away, or moving their face as you speak.

Now let us look at the causes of bad breath:
Poor oral hygiene, dental cavities, food debris trapped between teeth, pale or swollen gum, whitish or yellowish substance coating the upper layer of the tongue, teeth coated with film or plague, malnutrition, dry mouth, and bacteria in the mouth.
Respiratory tract infections like: swollen lymph nodes in the neck, sore throat, stuffy nose, a greenish or yellowish nasal discharge, a mucus-producing cough.
Some food and drink can cause temporal bad breath, for example: garlic, onions, coffee, alcohol - and even cigarette smoking.
Systemic illness such as diabetes, kidney disease, lung disease, sinus disease, reflux disease and so on, may also cause bad breath.

However, some kind of bad breath, such as "morning breath" can be considered to be quite normal, and may not pose serious health concerns. "Morning mouth" occurs because the saliva that regularly washes away decaying food substances and odour during the daytime diminishes at night while we sleep. The mouth becomes dry, and dead cells stick to the tongue and to the inside of the cheeks. Bacteria find such environment inviting, and use these cells for food and expel compounds that have a foul smell.

The good news is, bad breath can be eliminated and here are 13 ways to do it:

  • Drink plenty of clean water, especially first thing when you wake up. Swish cool water around in your mouth, this is particularly helpful to freshen morning breath.
  • If you wear dentures during the day, take them out at night and clean it thoroughly to get rid of the bacteria that may have build-up from food and drink.
  • Practice brushing your teeth after every mean, and floss, preferably two tomes a day.
  • Most people uses their tooth brush until it literally cries out for freedom. Tooth brush don't cost much, replace your tooth brush every two or three months.
  • To keep your tooth brush free of stink-triggering bacteria, store head down in a lidded plastic tumbler of hydrogen peroxide. Rinse thoroughly before using it.
  • Use an oral irrigator. Okay some of us understands what irrigation means from agriculture. An oral irrigator  is a handheld device that rapidly pulses small jet of water into the mouth, to flush out bad bacteria, which can go deeper than a brush or floss string can reach.
  • Don't skip meals. If you don't eat for a long period of time, the mouth becomes dry and bacteria can turn that into a breeding ground.
  • You can arrange for a regular dental check-ups and cleaning in your local clinic.
  • Scrap your tongue every morning with a tongue scraper. Don't worry if you don't have a tongue scraper, you can either use a metal spoon or but a new brush and use it dry.  The scraper or spoon is used to decrease the bacteria and dead cells that can cause odour. Hold the tip of your tongue with a gauze or just push it out, and scrap the tongue's surface gently to avoid injury.
  • Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds, arise seeds, dill, cardamom, they are good antiseptic.
  • Chew a piece of lemon or orange rind for a mouth-freshening burst of flavour, (wash the rind thoroughly first though). The citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands and fight off bad breath.
  • Chew a fresh spring of parsley, basil, mint, and cilantro. The chlorophyll in the green plant will neutralize the odour.
  • You can try a second mouth wash rinse that is free of alcohol (unlike many off-the-shelf products). Mix a cup of water with a teaspoon of baking soda (this changes the pH level and fights mouth odour) and a few drops of antimicrobial pepper mint essential oil. Don't swallow it! Use it to make several rinses.

7 health benefits of coffee you may not know

Don't we just want a steaming cup of coffee in the morning? It can be vital to a  productive day as spending an hour at the gym. Well that steaming cup may not always work to your advantage as a 2011 study published in the Journal of Applied  Social Psychology suggests that coffee can deflate one's confidence and focus when the pressure is high, contrary to  caffeine-junk belief.

Okay don't frown if you like taking coffee a lot. or be excited if you don't like coffee. I only mentioned just one disadvantage, but the advantages may as well leverage the disadvantage. Some new studies have shown that coffee can be a very helpful stimulant if used properly, and may also help improve one's performance outside the office.

Now let's see the 7 health benefits of coffee and why you probably shouldn't quit on coffee yet.

Helps burn fat
It's not only Lipton without milk or sugar that does the trick. In fact, a 2013 study published in Nutrition and Metabolism, found that ingesting caffeine prior to physical activity arouses the body into fat-burning mode as opposed to energy-burning mood. Now you know coffee does more than just keep you awake. So if you want to shed off those fats, I suggest you take a cup of coffee or two before your workout.

Speeds up your recovery
I know you may have been investing a lot f hours on the gym just to get the fat out of your system, but this could sometimes lead to achy muscles. Soreness could get in the way of your next workout therefore impeding on your progress, but don't worry you can work on that. A 2013 study published in the Journal of Strength Conditioning and Research found muscles soreness to be significantly reduced following strength training in participants who had coffee an hour before hitting the gym.

Helps boost your endurance
This is particularly important for people who are into athletics or other sports or entertainment that requires endurance. You don't want to run at of gas too soon, especially in a competitive atmosphere. Two 2013 studies found coffee can help you work out stronger and longer. Research done in the United Kingdom found athletes who had a cup of coffee prior to their workout had a 5% faster performance time.

Improves memory
Are you planning to sit an exam and what you read just seem to not want to stick, you can try coffee.
A 2014 study found coffee may help you do just that. Researchers at John Hopkins University found caffeine enhances the brain's ability to create long term memories. The effects last for up to 24 hours, so consuming one strong cup of coffee can really help create a deeper level of memory retention, isn't that a good news?

Help fortifies your DNA
coffee is a very good antioxidant and it can help combat those free radicals in your system. According to research from the University of Scranton, coffee is the number source of antioxidants in the US diet - more than fruits and vegetables combined. You can take coffee instead of soda, to help fortify your DNA and fight against free radicals that can cause cancer, Alzheimer's and heart disease.

Help improve your mood
I'm talking about eliminating the sad long face, and replacing it with something more cheerful like a smile...Lols. According to research done at Harvard's School of Public Health, coffee has a mood boosting effect. The 2013 study found that drinking caffeinated coffee acted as an antidepressant and significantly reduced the risk of suicidal tendencies.

Makes you better in bed
well some guys might want to smile now *wink* caffeine spikes your adrenaline levels, and isn't just that of the physical parameters. Research from McKendree University found a positive correlation between adrenaline levels and attraction - increased the chemistry on the bed. But you have to keep the coffee intake to one cup  per day to maximize this benefit. Too much of it might just work in the opposite direction - increase anxiety and pocketing your libido.

Why You Must Stop Using Hand Sanitizers

Using hand sanitizer could seem like an ideal, and perhaps, more civilized way to keep the hands clean and fragrance. Cashiers, bank tellers, and even teachers, would probably give it a thumb up. Hand sanitizers can exterminate a lot of bacteria on the skin. When it comes to safety and effectiveness, the main concern with hand sanitizers
is triclosan, which is the main anti-bacteria ingredient in non alcoholic sanitizers. But the thing about triclosan, though, is that the solution is known to kill bacteria indiscriminately. We need certain "good bacteria" to maintain our overall health, but these can be wiped out with the harmful ones when we use sanitizers that contain triclosan. And a further concern, is that triclosan doesn't protect against viruses and fungi.

Alcohol- based sanitizers are fairly effective and safe, according to some experts. Hand sanitizers that are 60% alcohol are good at killing bacterial pathogens. They can also kill some virus but not all.
But you need to check the alcoholic content of the sanitizer before buying or using, because for it to be functional, the alcoholic concentration in the bottle needs to be 60% , anything lower is just not good enough.

However, the problem with alcohol-based sanitizer is that it isn't particularly good for children, because they might put their hands in their mouth after washing their hands with it, and it could be very harmful if they ingest it. There have been a number if reported incidences of alcohol poisoning in children due to hand sanitizers. an adult may need to swallow a fair large amount for it to have effect, but for children, it can take just a small amount to do the damage.
In a study published in Science Daily carried out by the Northwest Research Centre, found that a child's immunity is seriously affected by the use of hand sanitizers.

Now, a more alarming concern is that a new study, published in PLOS one, suggests using hand sanitizer increase your absorption of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical known to mess with the body's endocrine system. Scientist have even linked higher levels of BPA to all kinds of health problems ranging from heart disease cancer, infertility, and diabetes.
The paper used for printing receipts contain high level of BPA, and new research from the University of Missouri suggests that handling of receipts and using hand sanitizers does emphatically increase the body's absorption of BPA.

So you may want to stick to your soap and water, though it doesn't necessarily kill bacteria, but at least you won't burden yourself with the side effects of hand sanitizers.
